Americans Need an ETA for UK Travel

If traveling to the United Kingdom (England, Scottlad, Wales, Northern Ireland) for business or pleasure for up to 6-months or 90 days for leisure travel. Americans do not need a visa. However, for travel on or after January 8, 2025, Americans will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).
What Does This Mean?
Americans traveling to the UK without a visa will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for travel on or after January 8, 2025. Note: I recommend applying at least a month prior to travel due to the quick turn around time. The Electronic Travel Authorization is valid for 2-years from the date of issue.
How To Apply
You will need to apply on the UK ETA app (Download in Apple or Google App Store) which is recommended. However, you can apply online on GOV.UK. Each traveler must get their own ETA, this includes children. Usually, you will get a decision within 3 working days.
How You Will Receive Your ETA
You will receive an email confirmation if your application is approved. Your ETA will be linked electronically to the passport you applied with. Note: You must use the same passport to travel. If your passport expires in less than 2-years you will need to get a new ETA.
You Received Your ETA
You can use your ETA to make multiple visits to the UK.You still need to either use an ePassport gate if you're eligible or see a Border Force Officer to enter the UK.
How Much Does the ETA Cost?
An ETA will cost $21 per applicant.
